YEAR OF DIVINE GRACE PDF Print E-mail
Hello Youths and Children of the Most High God,

Happy New Year. It has been a while since we last rubbed minds together. We started the year with alot of snow and many snow days at school, do not relax to the point of forgetting that you will still give back those snow days during your spring vacations.

If I may ask, what are your new year resolutions? Is your answer telling me that you do not have any resolutions for this year? If you have or do not have, my prayers for you is that God will give you the divine grace to overcome all obstacles both in school, with your friends and at home.

Divine grace is from God not man. This is an unmerited help given to you by God to overcome temptation. Freedom from sin through divine grace. Therefore, as you go through this year, make sure you continue to ask God to give you his divine grace to overcome those evil things your friends at school is asking you to do.

Ask for the grace not to get angry, not to fight, not to steal, not to do drugs when friends ask you to. The grace to love others as you love yourself, grace to forgive when offended, grace to be obedient to your parents and elders, grace to run away from immoral acts and above all grace to love, obey and serve God Almighty.

Thank you children for spending time in reading this.  God bless you till we meet again.

Jesus loves you, so do we
Aunty Pat.

Emulating Timothy PDF Print E-mail
Hello Children,

It has been a while since you heard from Sist Funmi and Sist Pat.  We are both praying for you and thinking about you and we believe that you are also doing those things you have been instructed to do so that you may receive the promises of God upon your lives.

How are you getting on with the school work?  I mean your homeworks and class tests?  Our prayer is that the Lord will give unto you the excellent spirit that was also given to Daniel.  You all will succeed.

Today, our discussion is on the person of Timothy.  Timothy was a very obedient child, humble and honored his parents and grandmother.  Timothy's father was not Jewish but his gandmother and his mother were Jewish and they (grandmother and mother) taught him the word of God.  Timothy did not rebel to the two women in his life, neither did he disrespect his father because he was not part of his spiritual life because his father was Greek.  Paul the Apostle also took Timothy as "a true son in the faith" Also read Acts 16: 1-3,   2nd Timothy 1: 5   and  2nd Timothy 3:14-15.

He still respected his father for been there for him in other areas of his life.  Children, we can see that firstly Timothy gave a good example to you all that grandmothers also can teach and correct grandchildren. Mothers can also do the same.  Timothy's father, mother and grandmother all played their part and young Timothy showed obedience to all.  Not only that, Timothy also walked in obedience with Apsotle Paul who is his father in the faith.

Your Sunday School teacher can be your father or mother in the faith, you must honor them as you do to your parents just as Timothy did to Apostle Paul.  Even in your school you must respect your teachers and elders who are there to teach you and bring up to be good citizens and leaders of tomorrow, like Timothy. He became a Bishop later in his life

Till we meet next time, be a good example like Timothy.  Make sure you read your bible as you read your school books.  Pray with dad and mom when it is time to pray.  You can also remind them to pray.

Remember, Jesus cares about you.
Sis. Pat.

The Commandment of God PDF Print E-mail
Hello Children,
I believe that you are all doing fine and you had a great weekend?

I also believe that you all gave your best to the Lord at the fellowship yesterday (Sunday) and also to daddy and mommy.  You must have all shown your best behavior.  I pray that you all will not go the wrong way in Jesus name.

Children I know you all know that God gave us Ten(10) commandments to guide our life styles while we are at home, school or with friends.  We are going to deal with one of them namely "Thou shalt not steal".  What is stealing?

(a) Does stealing mean taking something you think somebody else does not want?
(b) Does stealing mean taking something that is not yours?
(c) Does stealing mean finding something someone lost?

I will like you to give me the correct answer to the above questions.

Even at school or at home if we steal what is not ours, we make God angry, and many times after the person stealing have been caught, they will say that "the devil made me do it" that make such  a boy or a girl the child of the devil.  You my ask me why?  The devil was the first thief.  He stole a whole kingdom from Adam.

Therefore children, whatsoever that is not ours, we must not take it.  If your parents gives you money for offering in the church, you must put it in the offering bowl.  If you do not do it, you are stealing from God.  That is much more terrible.

Till we meet next time, be honest children and God will bless you.

Jesus Cares,
Aunty Pat

WHEN WE FEEL DISAPPOINTED PDF Print E-mail
Hello Youths and Children,
It has been a while.  I hope and believe that all is well with you all. I believe you are all getting ready to enjoy the fall season and you are doing all you can to help dad and mom.  I also believe that back to school is fun.  Make sure you take your studies seriously and do all your home works as soon as you are back from school.

Sometimes ago, I was reading a certain young girl's journal (with her permission).  She made an entry in the journal that I found very interesting.  She stated that her mother made a promise to her which she failed to keep.  She was very disappointed.  Although the mother tried to make amends, the harm was already done.

As parents or guardians, we may sometimes make promises to our children or wards and for one reason or another we may not fulfil the promise and eventually end up disappointing our precious ones.

Children am sure this is very familiar with you all .  Maybe dad and mom have not done what they promised.  But thank God for God, He is not man, his pomise can never fail.  Whenever God makes a promise, he fulfils it.  Anytime you feel disappointed,  trust God in everything.

Till we meet again
Have a wonderful week

Obedience and Following The Example of Jesus PDF Print E-mail
Beloved of Christ
We continue today with our discussion on obedience and following the example of Jesus.
In this write up we want to look at the story of a king who was disobedient to Godly instructions and the bad consequence that came upon him and his family as a result of his disobedience.

King Saul in the book of 1 Samuel 15, was given a clear instruction by the Lord but he only obeyed the Lord in his own way, therefore God became very angry with him and so he rejected him from being king and appointed another king in his place.God sent the king ”to go and utterly destroy” a particular place because the people of that place had been very wicked to the children of God. But the king kept back some goodies for himself and God was very disappointed at him.

Children of God, please note that it can be very unwise to follow instructions especially godly instructions, parental /adult /doctor’s instruction partially because it can mean the difference between life and death, or success and failure.  Partial obedience is also disobedience.

In the book of 1 Samuel 15:1-9, we see the account God’s instruction to the king.

Samuel also said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the LORD. 2 Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. 3 Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” 4 So Saul gathered the people together and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Judah. 5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and lay in wait in the valley. 6 Then Saul said to the Kenites, “Go, depart, get down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them. For you showed kindness to all the children of Israel when they came up out of Egypt.” So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. 7 And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. 8 He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

God was displeased by the king’s actions and he sent the man of God to him but the king said that “the people made him do it”. How many times do we do something that is not very nice and we blame it on the devil or on other people? That is what the king did and it made him to lose his kingdom.

If you have done anything wrong please do not be like this king, accept responsibility for your actions and be honest, be ready to say sorry if you have to , ask God to forgive you and leave the result to him.

We shall continue our discussion next week. Remember to send us your comments /questions.

I love you but Jesus loves you more. Till next time please remember that “obedience is better than sacrifice”

Choose Your Friends Wisely PDF Print E-mail
Hello Children of the King,

I believe you all had a wonderful week with your friends and also with dad and mom.  How was your fellowship in the church?  I believe it was wonderful.  Praise God !

Today, we are going to talk about "choosing wisely" those you think they should be your friends.  Firstly let us read from the Bible - Proverbs 12: 26a "The rigtheous should choose his friends wisely"  Proverbs 13:20 says "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed".

As Youths and children, the friends we choose  will help to determine who we will become in the future.  If we decide to choose friends who go about doing evil, surely when the time comes we will be punished with them.  If you decide to fall into the peer pressure of the bad ones in your school or neighborhood, it means that in future you will continue to live in regrets.  We must not use foul languages because our friends use them.  We must not curse, because it is not right in the eyes of God. I Corinthians 15:33 says "Be not deceived, evil communications corrupt good manners".   The selection of friends is extremely important.  We do understand that pressure from peers are too strong on you that parents can understand, but nevertheless you must do waht is right in God's eyes.

As children of the King, we must choose friends that have the fear of God in them.  We must run away from the evil of the society and make sure we pray to God to help us in choosing friends  Do not have anything to do with friends who do not take their school work seriously and do not take their fellowship seriously.  Always choose friends who are wise, decent and those that honor their parents and fear God.

Following The Example Of Jesus PDF Print E-mail

As young people especially if we are in church we must have heard a lot of teachings about obedience and disobedience.

Obedience is an act or instance of being obedient and it means to follow the commands or guidance of another person particularly a person in authority like our parents, guardians, and teachers and so on. We disobey when we refuse to follow the command or guidance we have been given.

For example if a person is told not to take something that does not belong to him or her and he /she does so, that person is disobedient and they can get into trouble.

Examples abound in the bible of how God’s people young and old have disobeyed him. Some of them were given a chance to repent and say sorry to God, but some people died and other bad things happened to others because of disobedience to God’s word.

God our heavenly Father like our earthly parents gives us rules to help us not to harm us and some of us sometimes go against the rules and bad things sometimes happen as a result of disobedience. But God and our parents still love us and they still want to help us be the best that we can be. It is always good to be obedient and to do what God and our parents say do and refrain from doing what they warn us against.

When Jesus was a young boy living with his parent, bible tells us that he was obedient to his parents. Although Jesus knew who He was yet He was obedient to His parents. As children please let us be like Jesus and be obedient to our parents, guardians and especially to God. The Bible in Luke 2:41-51 the bible records the story of how Jesus Christ respected His parent’s by obeying their instructions.”

41Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. 42When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom. 43After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.45When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."

49"Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" 50But they did not understand what he was saying to them. 51Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.

Precious one, we see in the above scripture that Jesus is our example therefore, let us try our best to be like him. May God bless you real good as you make up your mind to be obedient like Jesus. Amen.

I love  you but Jesus loves you more. Till next time please be obedient to all Godly instructions!

Children Are An Heritage PDF Print E-mail

Hello Children,
It is good to be with you once again this blessed week. I believe you all have been showing good manners to dad and mom. Today, we will take our bible reading from Psalm 127: 3-5:

"(3) Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward. (4) As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. (5) Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:  they shall speak with the enemies in the gate"

Children are God's gift to the parents, therefore it is the duty of the parents to bring them up in the way that will please God. There is an example of a woman who waited for long before having a son.  As this little boy grew up, his mother was always doing everything to please him.  When this boy grew up to age 20years, it became very difficult for his mother to correct him, so he did something bad and ended up in jail.

Children, God has given you all to your parents that they may bring you up and teach you to have the fear of God.  Children that are brought up properly will become a symbol of strength to the parents. When the children grow up in the way of the Lord, there is always joy and peace in the life of the parents and in the entire family.

Therefore, like the Bible said children, it will be good if you obey the Godly instructions of your parents or elders.  Do not display any act of rebellion or disrespect to your parents or elders.  Remember Joseph was loved by his father Jacob because he was a good child and his father made him a coat of many colors.  Be of good behavior till I come your way in our next discussion.  Do you have friends who are yet to give their lives to Jesus Christ?  Remind them that God loves them and cares about their eternity - John 3: 16.  Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be too late.

Remember, Jesus loves and cares about you

Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Me PDF Print E-mail

Hello Children,

Welcome to our Children Korner.  Because of the role of children in the church, this korner is long over due.  We thank the Lord for making it possible.  This korner is born today July 5th, 2010 by the grace of God.

In Mark 10: 13-14 it reads "And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them.   14: But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God"

Jesus rebuked His disciples for trying to keep out children out of His kingdom.  God also instructed Moses in Deuteronomy 6: 4-7 to tell the parents to teach the children all he has taught them.  It is therefore our responsibility to intruct and admonish our children in the way of the Lord.

We intend to start with the milk of the word in the way they will understand, so as they grow older, we believe they will be able to partake of the meat of the word of God.  This will strengthen the statement in Proverbs 22:6 which says "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it"

Till we meet again next week, be good children to mom and dad, read your bible daily and pray daily, if you do not have a bible, tell mom and dad to get you one. Enjoy your 4th celebrations.
